In Kel’s voice, “A great philosopher by the name Yo Gotti once said, ‘It goes down in the DMs’”.

That is literally how it all started— Instagram on Father’s Day June 19, 2022— Dr Ikenna Okons was in New York and scrolled upon Sharisma’s Instagram after she liked a picture on his page. He happened to be at lunch with his brother and a few friends and asked the table for advice on how he should write her. He gathered all advice but ended up using his own pick up line, “Shoutout to your father for raising a Queen” on a post of her GRANDfather haha. She found that to be super quirky but intriguing so she began to look forward to his messages. She soon realized she was taken away by his charm and admired his persistence and different approach of trying to get her attention.

After several days of messaging back and forth, Kel asked for Sharisma’s number and they FaceTimed. They were so happy to have an instant connection that they decided to meet for the FIRST TIME; only a MONTH after meeting each other on Instagram. Guess where? Las Vegas! There is where Kel had plans to be prior to meeting Sharisma; and conveniently, was a quick 1 hour flight for Sharisma who lived in Denver, Colorado. Sharisma, spontaneous and adventurous as we all know, went there to meet him where she was greeted coming down the escalator to Ikenna holding beautiful flowers, music playing from his phone, and a huge handmade poster of sweet moments from their daily FaceTime dates. Sharisma thought she was in a movie, as she had never experienced something so sweet, genuine and romantic. Upon the first hug, they both knew they’d found their MATCH. Ikenna made it official 2 days later at a romantic sky-high lounge in Vegas overlooking the sunset as the server presented Sharisma the cutest card that read, “Will you be my girlfriend?”

Of course she said, “YES!” because why would she not. He was perfect for her.

They continued to date long distance from North Carolina (Kelvin) to Colorado (Sharisma), traveling to see each other every 2 weeks.

One year later, on June 17, 2023, Kelvin asked for Sharisma’s hand in marriage at a rooftop restaurant (they have a thing for rooftops lol) in Charlotte, NC where their closest friends and family traveled to attend and show their support. Again, she said, ”YES!” because again, they are perfect for one another.

…And as they say…THE REST IS HISTORY!

Ikenna and Sharisma celebrated their Nigerian Traditional Wedding on August 31, 2024. As many of you know, it was an EXTRAVAGANZA to say the least (lol) as family and friends traveled far and near to be there to witness such a cultural ceremony.
